The Ong Khun Naga Fighter Knife of PCPS American Pencak Silat

Since I broke the news here of the historical connection about the previously hidden merger, in the past between the Indonesian pencak silat and the north Thailand art of Jerng in my original style, which you can read about on this website in detail; I wanted to commemorate this discovery with a special weapon. I looked at a lot of blades and designs before taking the features I wanted in creating this special PCPS-Jerng commemorative piece.

As you might know I am a fan of sub hilt designs for knives, in general, for supreme control and the ability to transfer the energy of the body, more precisely in a whip fashion into the cuts and parrys. So that had to be part of the design for the best functionality.

Since we are talking about the merger at one time of the two arts, I wanted a double-edged design and I wanted important symbols on the knife that embodies this merger. I also needed a master blade maker to pull it off, as well as keeping it affordable for most everyone. This took a long time and many costly rejects before the right combination was created to my satisfaction.

The term Ong Khun is explained on the historical page here on the website. Ong is an enumerative noun for kings, princes, angels, palaces, etc. Khun, means sir or lord, master. This language is Thai. Variations of this name were always associated with the first art I learned, albeit not honestly. This was actually the title given to the Man from Old Siam whose position in North Thailand had been from royalty. He took up some work on Wetzels Garden when they migrated to Indonesia, and beat him in a fight that then transpired from some disagreement, we were taught. After, Willy asked and he agreed to teach Willy his art which is, I believe is actual main infusion of Jerng in what he taught. The real fusion.

The P.C.P.S – Jerng fighter is named “The Ong Khun Naga Fighter Knife of PCPS American Pencak Silat.” The blade is 8 inches long and its 13 1/2 with a wooden sheath that is covered in fine black leather with a belt loop and tie down loop.

The guards on this blade represent both the start of a spiral symbolic of our core principles from the creator and the legs and claws of the naga and are pointed like a claw. On one side of the blade in gold is the rendition of the fierce high crowned Thailand naga taken right from old Thailand renditions. On the other side are the P.C.P.S. initials and the four thorned rose. Because our fascinatingly deadly flowing movement comes through the Jerng influence, I wanted a blade with beautiful sweeping flowing and deadly lines as well. The long naga leg guards, the upswept blade, pommel crowned with a steel wedge for poison hand blows, circular trigger finger resting place and overall beauty of the piece accomplish that and the pinpoint precision manipulation the trigger guard sub hilt design affords, equally represent the pinpoint precision snap cuts of the advanced P.C.P.S. fighter that the fascinatingly deadly flow we inherited from the Jerng art carries to the targets. The black buffalo horn finger grooved handle is inset with a sterling silver rose and four thorns as well, all that symbology is in the hand of he who holds the king master naga fighter!

This blade is 100 percent hand made the old way and fire hardened and hand polished and the handle is dark water buffalo horn.  As usual P.C.P.S American Pencak Silat leads the way in unique, beautiful functional blades of the art.
